This morning at school Arielle and I were cutting paper and drawing birds for our kids to color.
The birds were not so great... but that doesn't matter.
As kids clamored around our table and crawled in and out of our laps, one little boy, Kyle, looked up at me. Kyle is four years old and missing his front teeth.
In his adorable pre-school, South African voice, Kyle smiles a toothless grin and says to me,
"I see Jesus in your eye!!!"
........Completely. Shocked.
I just smiled and felt an overwhelming sense of joy wash over me.
This boy, who lives in a foster family, is four years old and doesn't really know much about Jesus… what in the world does he know about seeing Jesus in your eyes? That's something that only an older person with many years of experience and wisdom would think to say, but no, of course God used this precious child of His to speak such a profound statement over me. It was such an illustration of an innocent, childlike faith. I needed to hear exactly that at that exact moment.
It is encouraging to know that we are making a difference, and it is reassuring to know that God is doing some big things through our time here. While we think we are winding down in the next five weeks, God is not. He seems only to be doing bigger and greater things with each passing day.
Also in our class, one boy, Seadan, would never sleep during nap time. He would just sit and cry. After praying for him for the past few weeks, Seadan last week all of a sudden decided he would start taking naps, and he hasn't stopped since. It seems like such a small feat, but in a four year old's life, it's a big deal!
Arielle talked to Kyle later about Jesus's love for us, and this is a picture she took of him!
Jesus is so good and continues to bless me through the beauty of South Africa every day!
